It's 1944, and Winston Churchill has reason to believe that the Germans are getting ready to use chemical weapons on Allied troops. Mac, a chemical researcher, and Stern, a guerilla fighter, are faced with the task of destroying a concentration camp in the hopes of convincing the Germans that the Allies are one step ahead of them in developing deadly gases. Saunders delivers a fine performance of the rough-and-ready characters, as well as a thoughtful Churchill and a distinguished Eisenhower. He handles the range of accents without effort. This is a fast-paced story with high action and military grit.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
