Samantha Bond keeps things moving with an energetic performance as the titular protagonist, who is trying to balance the overwhelming intricacies of her life. Bond's lively modulation captures Bridget's kooky moments of insecurity, and her dynamic narration keeps the narrative entertaining even when it threatens to become somewhat redundant and tiresome. Her portrayals of other characters are perfectly suited to their personalities and remain distinct throughout the performance. She offers particularly exuberant articulations of the f-bomb and the word "fart," which is (over)used extensively. Her comic talents are particularly evident as she fudges her hard consonants in the aftermath of Bridget's Botox treatment gone wrong.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
