BLACK HEART is the final book in Holly Black’s Curse Workers trilogy, about a young former assassin who's trying to go straight. Jesse Eisenberg’s performance throughout the series can be described in two words: unwavering charm. Eisenberg’s portrayal of Cassel Sharpe hinges on turning the character’s self-doubt and self-deprecation into endearing qualities. Eisenberg accomplishes this with perfectly timed hesitation and an occasionally tremulous voice that is convincingly sincere, vulnerable, and seductive. His characterization makes Cassel’s fast talking believable and engaging as he tries to keep out of trouble and do what’s right.
