Awkward teenagers stumble into a cute romance performed with charm by Zeno Robinson and Diane Doen. Will is an anxious, Black teen who wants to become editor of his school newspaper, so he is seeking a summer internship. Jocelyn, who is bitter about the likelihood of having to leave New York City, helps out at her family's failing restaurant, A-Plus Chinese Garden. The two form a relationship when Will is hired to work at the restaurant, but prejudice tries to break the couple apart. Robinson and Doen deliver the best qualities of a believable romance. They depict each character realistically as Will tries to control his anxiety and Jocelyn learns to become a more fulfilled person. Their endearing performance will be enjoyed by a wide audience.

Listeners follow Merry, the longbow girl, one of the best archers in her town. When she finds a magical portal in the forest that takes her back to sixteenth-century Wales, she must use her skills to win an archery contest in order to help her ancestors keep their land. While narrator Emily Wilden brings protagonist Merry to life with a rich Welsh accent, her narration seems uneven at times. All the period characters have accents that reflect the setting of the story and transport listeners to Wales. Listeners who enjoy historical fiction and a bit of fantasy will be charmed by this tale of determination, hope, and family.
