A passel of characters is on board a luxury liner for its maiden voyage: a Russian billionaire and his supermodel girlfriend; a mega-movie star and his desperate but likable partner; a famous Brit footballer and his social-climbing wife; a senator and his beautiful but unhappy other half; a Latin pop star and his wicked boyfriend; and a hunky journalist and his do-gooder date. When uninvited guests--a Mexican pirate gang hired by a Russian mobster bent on revenge--show up, Collins's sizzling, naughty romp takes off. All the narrators hit home runs, perfectly embodying their characters. And they all nail the requisite accents: posh and working-class British, sinister Russian, upscale and down-to-earth American, and sexy Latin. This is a great summer listen.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
