Darek wants nothing more than to go out on a dragon hunt with his father and older brother. But when he finds an orphaned baby dragon, an enemy of his people, he instantly becomes protective of the small and helpless creature and decides to leave home and return the baby to the valley controlled by the dragons. Narrator Jeff Woodman doesn't have much to work with in this story: There are few characters, and the prose is pedestrian. The nasally voice he gives Darek and his portrayal of the dragon's vocalizations endearingly add life to the story. A solid, if unexceptional, production.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
