This audiobook adaptation of the graphic novel features a stellar cast and vibrant soundtrack. Sébastien, portrayed by Ramón de Ocampo with a French accent, is freshly moved into a new apartment and ready to finally learn magic. Elia, depicted suavely by Fajer Al-Kaisi in an Italian accent, is the hot supermodel vampire next door. Alexander Cendese voices Sébastien's adorable pet rabbit, Pierre, in a snarky tone as he watches the two men navigate a new friendship and budding romance. The banter between de Ocampo and Al-Kaisi is filled with tension. A subtle vocal effect as Christopher Salazar voices Drew, an undead human who is mute, depicts how he communicates through his phone. Music and sound effects immerse listeners in the rich setting of a supernatural Paris.

A perfect companion to the recent Supergirl movie.
Supergirl is no longer the sweet, silly teenager many people grew up with. This audiobook reveals a troubled young woman dealing with the death of her world and the challenge of living up to the ideals of her perfect cousin, Superman. The audiobook is a wonderful, if a bit noisy, adaptation of the comic book series of the same name. A full cast creates a series of worlds and people as Supergirl and her earnest companion, Ruthye, struggle to track down the space pirate who poisoned Krypto the Superdog and find a cure. Marcella Lentz-Pope portrays Supergirl with angst and urgency, while Lim Shi-An's verbose Ruthye is a delight.

Sixteen narrators offer a humorous take on contemporary culture, with Bechdel as the deadpan narrator. While her friends navigate their first throuple and her wife, Holly, garners fame as a wood-chopping influencer, Alison is stuck. Her first book has been adapted into a successful TV show, but she struggles with a follow-up. Perhaps writing a script about rejecting consumer capitalism will get her back on track? In the end, simply spending time with friends puts her back in the creative saddle. Standouts include Holly Rae Taylor's heartfelt optimism as Holly, Jenn Colella's wit as Alison, and Joe Barrett's fumbling innocence as Stuart. Sound effects immerse listeners in each scene, and Bechdel's sardonic take on the group's liberal leanings reminds fans of what makes her work special.
