Twin brothers are separated at birth by a baby switch in a Hartford, Connecticut, hospital in the 1940s. One goes home to a modest life while the other lives as the son of a multimillionaire, but both go on to successful careers--one as a war hero and banker, the other as a lawyer. Their lives are often intertwined, but they don't meet until the death of a mutual foe brings them together in a battle for the gubernatorial nomination. Paul Michael keeps his reading understated for this melodramatic tale. Despite slight problems with female voices, he creates drama from the dry political tallying, as well as the major events of the story.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
