Five years after the death of Georgia, founder of the Friday Night Knitting Club, Kate Jacobs revisits the surviving members as they move on with their lives. This story just doesn't work. Georgia was the most well-drawn character in the first book, and without her this sequel has no life. This weakness bogs down narrator Carrington MacDuffie—it’s not her fault that her voice seems to be on autopilot. Although she gives each character a unique voice, the story’s jumps from one character and time to another are confusing. Listeners who like their fiction to be realistic won't find much realism here.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
