They've all gathered to marry off the senior Wyckham's young ward, Jessamine, who will inherit his fortune. At the same time, someone is playing nasty pranks that scare Zeb, who turns to Gideon for comfort, setting off a series of torrid sex scenes. Archer's performance is marred by erratic volume, undifferentiated characters, and dropped words.

Sanjeev Bhaskar makes wonderful work of this brilliant, funny, and thought-provoking thriller. What happens when you mix those classics of Edwardian fiction, Sherlock Holmes and A.J. Raffles, with a mysterious character from the African jungle and recast the story’s narrator as law student Balvinder Singh?
