FLY AWAY

Continuing the emotional story begun in FIREFLY LANE, Susan Ericksen resumes her narration of the story of Tully Hart and the Ryan family. After her best friend's death from cancer, Tully's whole life falls apart until she finds herself in a coma following a car accident. At that point Tully learns about her past, herself, and how to move on. Ericksen narrates in a soothing voice as several characters share their points of view of the story. She provides a rough, stilted voice for Tully's addict mother and a more youthful one for Mara Ryan, the teenage daughter of Tully's best friend. Slight accents are used for some of the characters, including the doctor who treats Tully in the hospital and Tully's father. The accents differentiate their voices without breaking the magic of Ericksen's narration. The production provides discussion questions read by the author.

      18mm BLUES

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
