Carlotta Brentan is the latest narrator for The Witches of Thistle Grove series. This third book focuses on Nina Blackmoore, who attempts to heal her broken heart by going on a date with a person picked by her best friend. Not only is eclectic and nonbinary Morty not Nina's type, but Morty's family owns the very pub that the Blackmoore family has been trying to buy. Surprisingly, some explosive magic intervenes and entwines their fates. Improvements could have been made on Morty's voice, which doesn't match his description, and the word "padawan" is continually mispronounced. But, overall, Brentan's expressive delivery keeps the narration sultry, while her speaking voice for best friend Jessa sounds perfectly friendly and supportive.

Katie Leung's Scottish accent immediately immerses listeners in the Scottish Highlands in this sapphic vampire audiobook. Rebecca, a vampire hunter, goes undercover at a vampire university to find the Book of Blood and Roses, a compilation of ways to kill vampires. After being attacked, her gorgeous vampire roommate rescues her but accidentally makes Rebecca her familiar in the process. Finding the book could break the familiar curse, but their new proximity heats things up along the way. Leung easily switches between accents and tones to enliven a large cast of students, and her precise pacing adds delightful tension to romantic scenes. Leung's Scottish accent and precise pacing elevate this vampire romance.

Brittany Pressley and Dan Bittner expertly perform a dual narration of a contemporary paranormal romance audiobook. What do you do when the guy you went on one date with haunts you--literally? Or when your late fiancée's spirit is still around five years after her death? You team up with your newfound fellow hauntee. As Morgan and Sawyer work together to discover their ghosts' unfinished business, they go from acquaintances to something more. Pressley and Bittner skillfully portray Morgan, Sawyer, and their ghosts' personalities as they smoothly transition between voices. Most notable is how they both capture the depth of Sawyer's overwhelming grief. An excellent production; listeners will be pleased.
