by Lana Harper ; read by Carlotta Brentan ‧ RELEASE DATE: Jan. 3, 2023
Carlotta Brentan is the latest narrator for The Witches of Thistle Grove series. This third book focuses on Nina Blackmoore, who attempts to heal her broken heart by going on a date with a person picked by her best friend. Not only is eclectic and nonbinary Morty not Nina's type, but Morty's family owns the very pub that the Blackmoore family has been trying to buy. Surprisingly, some explosive magic intervenes and entwines their fates. Improvements could have been made on Morty's voice, which doesn't match his description, and the word "padawan" is continually mispronounced. But, overall, Brentan's expressive delivery keeps the narration sultry, while her speaking voice for best friend Jessa sounds perfectly friendly and supportive.

With this installment, narrator Justine Eyre concludes Singh's series about archangels, vampires, and the humans who share the world with them. Elena was transformed from a human into an angel at the start of the series and has spent a millennium as archangel Raphael's consort. Over the years, Elena has lost human family and friends, and Eyre brings poignancy to her narration as Elena remembers those she has lost. When Elena becomes pregnant with Raphael's child, Eyre expresses the couple’s joy and worry. Raphael is a powerful being, and Eyre aptly communicates this. She also handles the multiple characters who interact with Elena and Raphael with ease.

This monster romance follows Anna, a museum worker whose life changes when Frey, a cursed gargoyle warrior, comes to life and claims her as his fated mate. As they navigate the clash between her modern life and his ancient instincts, danger, mystery, and a powerful curse unfold around them. Narrated by Emma Wilder, the distinct character voices feel natural and consistent, uplifting the story and making it easy to connect with both Anna’s vulnerability and Frey's intensity.
