Lauren Fortgang and Michael David Axtell return to narrate the second audiobook in the Alex Stern series. Determined to break her mentor, Darlington, out of the underworld, Alex teams up with unexpected allies in a forbidden ritual. Fortgang, the primary narrator, voices Alex with overconfidence that masks her dark secrets, emotionally connecting with her distress and sorrow as she confronts the ugliest parts of her guilty past. The gravelly timbre Fortgang gives the demons is full of believable menace. Axtell voices Darlington with outward poise and inward passion as he wrestles with the dark desires of his own demons. This fervently delivered audiobook engrosses the listener through every twist and turn, making this sequel nearly impossible to pause.

by Annie Summerlee ; Read by Katie Leung ‧ RELEASE DATE: Jan. 22, 2026
Katie Leung's Scottish accent immediately immerses listeners in the Scottish Highlands in this sapphic vampire audiobook. Rebecca, a vampire hunter, goes undercover at a vampire university to find the Book of Blood and Roses, a compilation of ways to kill vampires. After being attacked, her gorgeous vampire roommate rescues her but accidentally makes Rebecca her familiar in the process. Finding the book could break the familiar curse, but their new proximity heats things up along the way. Leung easily switches between accents and tones to enliven a large cast of students, and her precise pacing adds delightful tension to romantic scenes. Leung's Scottish accent and precise pacing elevate this vampire romance.

Narrator Brittany Pressley returns the listener to Maine and Poole Manor, the house Sonya has inherited--complete with ghosts and a curse. A witch, Hester Dobbs, has cursed the family and over the years has killed seven Poole brides. Sonya; her boyfriend, Trey; her best friend, Cleo; and her cousin, Owen, are determined to break the curse and rid the manor of Dobbs. Cleo is from the South, and Pressley provides just the right touch of Cajun intonation, which contrasts pleasantly with Sonya's Northern accent. Pressley builds the tension as Dobbs attempts to scare Sonya and the others away from the house. Pressley's performance reflects the bond that forms among the characters as they battle the malevolent witch.
