by Meg Cabot ; Read by Piper Goodeve & Tim Paige ‧ RELEASE DATE: Jan. 22, 2023
A dual narration by Piper Goodeve and Tim Paige introduces a cozy Connecticut town that is about to experience a magical apocalypse. Local business owner Jessica Gold and new-to-town Derrick Winters believe that a high school witch can help avert disaster. While Jessica's friends' voices are not always distinct in conversation, Goodeve clearly evokes Piper's guilt about her past magical mishaps, along with her tentative interest in Derrick. Paige mirrors Derrick's lack of familiarity with the West Harbor lifestyle, as well as his apprehension about deceiving Jessica. While Derrick is well portrayed, Paige could better communicate Cabot's humor. Derrick and Jessica's romance sounds genuine in dialogue, but neither narrator seems fully invested in Cabot's campy but feminist tale. Story and narrators struggle to coalesce.

by Annie Summerlee ; Read by Katie Leung ‧ RELEASE DATE: Jan. 22, 2026
Katie Leung's Scottish accent immediately immerses listeners in the Scottish Highlands in this sapphic vampire audiobook. Rebecca, a vampire hunter, goes undercover at a vampire university to find the Book of Blood and Roses, a compilation of ways to kill vampires. After being attacked, her gorgeous vampire roommate rescues her but accidentally makes Rebecca her familiar in the process. Finding the book could break the familiar curse, but their new proximity heats things up along the way. Leung easily switches between accents and tones to enliven a large cast of students, and her precise pacing adds delightful tension to romantic scenes. Leung's Scottish accent and precise pacing elevate this vampire romance.

Trust narrator Joy Nash to make the zombie apocalypse a barrel of laughs. Edie Brandstrup is constantly on the lookout for zombies. Sure enough, some escape from a nearby prison. Rushing to save her neighbors, Edie first heads for Gaston "Max" Boucher, a brainless surfer dude who turns out to be a French vampire with hidden depths. Edie's mockery of Max in the form of incessant bawdy parodies of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST'S Gaston song is comically brought to life by Nash. As Edie and Max seek allies, their repartee sparkles. Nash manages to balance their insecurities and sell the unlikely pair as a rock-solid couple. Voices for the supernatural creatures are equally adept. Nash delivers a must-listen romantic adventure with heart and humor.
