by Meg Cabot ; read by Piper Goodeve & Tim Paige ‧ RELEASE DATE: Sept. 5, 2023
A dual narration by Piper Goodeve and Tim Paige introduces a cozy Connecticut town that is about to experience a magical apocalypse. Local business owner Jessica Gold and new-to-town Derrick Winters believe that a high school witch can help avert disaster. While Jessica's friends' voices are not always distinct in conversation, Goodeve clearly evokes Piper's guilt about her past magical mishaps, along with her tentative interest in Derrick. Paige mirrors Derrick's lack of familiarity with the West Harbor lifestyle, as well as his apprehension about deceiving Jessica. While Derrick is well portrayed, Paige could better communicate Cabot's humor. Derrick and Jessica's romance sounds genuine in dialogue, but neither narrator seems fully invested in Cabot's campy but feminist tale. Story and narrators struggle to coalesce.

This monster romance follows Anna, a museum worker whose life changes when Frey, a cursed gargoyle warrior, comes to life and claims her as his fated mate. As they navigate the clash between her modern life and his ancient instincts, danger, mystery, and a powerful curse unfold around them. Narrated by Emma Wilder, the distinct character voices feel natural and consistent, uplifting the story and making it easy to connect with both Anna’s vulnerability and Frey's intensity. Wilder’s emotional delivery is rich and nuanced, capturing quiet, intimate moments as well as high-stakes tension. Dialogue flows smoothly with a conversational rhythm, and the chemistry feels palpable. Wilder’s subtle tonal shifts and strong control of pacing keep the story engaging.

by Raquel Vasquez Gilliland ; read by Elena Rey ‧ RELEASE DATE: Jan. 13, 2026
Still, fans of the series will want to hear this final installment.
Elena Rey narrates the final audiobook in the Wild Magic trilogy. After spending seven years as a spirit, Sky’s family rescues her. Two years later, the youngest Flores sister is an outcast, bullied by most of her small town. When her neighbor’s grandson Adam moves back to town, she negotiates a fake friendship with him to help rehabilitate her image. As Adam accepts Sky’s magic, their friendship turns into something real, and Sky learns to accept his love. Rey captures Sky’s emotions as she struggles with her place in the world. While she gives all the characters distinct voices, Rey’s tone for Sky tends to sound whiny.
