Graham Halstead, Greta Jung, and Emily Tremaine narrate this dystopian sci-fi novel. In the near future, survivors converge on a remote camp in northern Canada. Rose is a Bloom, a sex worker assigned to Camp Zero. Rather than making Rose a figure of pity, Jung portrays her quiet strength of character and will to survive. Grant Grimley is a young academic who is desperate to escape his family and his past. Halstead slowly reveals the depth of Grant's trauma while also stressing how he learns to endure. White Alice is a top-secret U.S. military operation in Canada staffed by an all-female squad. Tremaine's stylized delivery of the Greek-chorus-style narratives of the soldiers is particularly effective at illuminating their forced proximity and obligation to work together.

This immersive audiobook exemplifies how a full cast can animate a work of fiction.
This speculative novel is exceptionally well performed. All the narrators capture the unique voices and distinct diction of these near-future souls. Kimberly Farr as Ari and James Aaron Oh as Sebastian are outstanding. The novel is set in the 2030s, just after the United States splinters into city-states and regional governments. The party at the center of the plot occurs in LA and presents many of the central characters—and their doppelgängers. Violence and fear hang over this dystopian world like a toxic mist. In the future, Paris consists of domes to separate the haves from the have-nots. Violent militias roam the U.S. People work for The Service, a secret police agency that watches all.

A haunting and heartwarming must-listen.
Nneka Okoye captivates in her performance of this gripping tale about Londoners in the midst of catastrophe. A mix of family drama, social commentary, and apocalyptic thriller, the story focuses on the Minton family, whose world literally blows apart on the day of a family wedding. Okoye’s inviting narrative voice welcomes listeners into the family, while her intense delivery heightens the pulse-pounding events surrounding the worldwide disaster. She personifies the diverse cast, changing her pitch, pace, and attitude to believably inhabit Black and white characters of different ages and social backgrounds—everyone from the four sisters, ages 7 to 22, and the Minton parents to panicked London residents.
