Narrator Mark Sanderlin is perfectly in tune with this funny, fast-paced story featuring a close-knit Italian family in New Jersey. He authentically delivers the emotional ups and downs of Joey, an insecure gay teenager, and his young mother, Gia, who are both struggling with love and maintaining feels of self-worth. In seeking revenge on the lovers who betrayed them, the two become outlaws on the run. What follows is a roller-coaster ride of self-inflicted, comical disasters. Sanderlin's voicing of Nona, with her New Jersey accent, select Italian phrases, and love for her daughter and grandson is particularly amusing. He also successfully differentiates the men and women who fill out the cast of characters. Listeners should be aware that there is abundant explicit language.
