Author and narrator Nikita Gill eloquently unfolds the story of Paro, a young woman from India who is navigating various hardships that shape her journey to womanhood. There is a poetic quality in the content of this story and in its narration. Gill's voice is airy and soft yet commanding. It is not difficult to imagine Paro as a divine being, given the combination of Gill's imagery and vocal intonations. Gill connects the stories of gods and goddesses to Paro's human experiences, and, indeed, she embodies these deities. The narration is ethereal yet concrete. As Gill brings the story to a close, there is a feeling of resilience, strength, and love.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
