by Alina Khawaja ; Read by Mayuri Bhandari ‧ RELEASE DATE: Jan. 22, 2025
Narrator Mayuri Bhandari introduces Pakistani American Ziya Khan, who is feeling resigned after receiving another rejection of her latest book submission. Out of her desperation comes a wish granted: Aashiq, the physical manifestation of her literary talent, whose purpose is to help her make life changes. Bhandari portrays Ziya in a well-modulated voice with hints of self-deprecation. She delivers Urdu greetings and other cultural terms in a fluent manner. Her voices for Ziya's extended family are creatively crafted and memorable. Her voice for the chipper Aashiq is light and bright, although it could use greater differentiation from Ziya's. Bhandari's gently comedic delivery of Aashiq's meddling adds another fun layer to this contemporary audiobook with hints of magic.

by Seth Haddon ; Read by Emily Gibbons Bouchard ‧ RELEASE DATE: Jan. 22, 2025
Narrator Emily Gibbons Bouchard demonstrates that queer love knows no bounds in this amped-up sci-fi romance. Called to a nearby planet by a mysterious beacon, scavenger Wylla goes on the hunt for what she hopes is a valuable find. What she discovers is something even greater: A mask imbued with the power of its last wearer, a hawk. Donning the mask, Wylla gains the hawk's memories and, avoiding other hunters on her tail, embarks on a quest to avenge the hawk's murder. Bouchard's narration captures both Wylla's pride in her transgender identity and her growing attachment to Sable, the hawk's former owner. Providing growing confidence to Wylla's voice and depth to Sable's, Bouchard makes this interstellar romance a gripping listen.
