Cindy Kay's expressive delivery welcomes the listener to the first installment of the Mythwoven fantasy series, in which fairy-tale and supernatural folk coexist. Hoping to save the next possible victim of the Red Shoes, which cause the wearer to dance themselves to death, vampire Bennet arrives too late. But Peeraphan is able to resist the shoes' deadly magic because she isn't fully human; she's a Thai supernatural being. Kay keeps the story moving through the slow-burn of Bennet and Perraphan's budding romance, as well as the slower pace of the tale itself. Although Kay's performance is enjoyable on its own, the production would have been more dynamic with the addition of another narrator for sections not from Peeraphan's point of view.

Dade's sequel to Zomromcom features a consistent, versatile narration from Nash.
Narrator Joy Nash taps into the vulnerability that oracle Gwen Wexloff feels as she seeks out Hugh Blacke, the demon who witnessed her failure years ago. After a zombie containment issue that points to a fae/human conspiracy, Hugh is the only powerful councillor who might help Gwen and her friends. Hugh's careful, rule-abiding nature comes across clearly in Nash's narration, his boundaries a foil to Gwen's open manner. Gwen and Hugh's voices convey both sincerity and respect as they move toward romance. Secondary characters, including fae and vampires, have unique, sometimes hilarious voices, as in the case of the troll siblings, who are the highlight of the audiobook.

The mythical realm of Skein is inhabited by vampires, werewolves, witches, demons, and Berserkers. Narrator Robert Petkoff is masterful navigating the wide range of characters, giving each a distinctive voice. He lends the werewolves a Scottish lilt, and his tone drips with evil as a particular vampire. The Accession, an ancient cycle of battle, is about to begin. As all the factions come together, connections are made: A vampire princess escaping her sadistic brother ends up wed to a Berserker. A werewolf finds his mate in a demon witch. A vampiress and an incubus form a partnership.
