Helen Laser narrates this third book in the Glimmer Falls series, in which supernatural inhabitants live mundane lives in a suburban town. Introverted werewolf Ben Rosewood is in for a surprise when he drunkenly orders a crystal on eBay only to find it contains a trapped vampire succubus--and she's NOT happy. Laser's somewhat androgynous voice allows her to smoothly voice all characters of all genders. In an admirable effort to create distinction among the characters, some of the women end up with unflattering voices. Laser's amazed inflections at the end of sentences can be a bit much for what's supposed to be a sexy romance, but perhaps they fit this cartoonish town.

Narrator Robert Petkoff is masterful navigating the wide range of characters, giving each a distinctive voice. He lends the werewolves a Scottish lilt, and his tone drips with evil as a particular vampire. The Accession, an ancient cycle of battle, is about to begin. As all the factions come together, connections are made: A vampire princess escaping her sadistic brother ends up wed to a Berserker. A werewolf finds his mate in a demon witch. A vampiress and an incubus form a partnership.
