Grace Sorrentino, divorced Italian woman, seeks nice Jewish widower, ultimately Sam Goodwin, to help solve her need for a secure financial future. But Grace and Sam fall in love, while their children get suspicious of her motives and seek to ruin all. Bernadette Dunne's soft narration grows softer and more inaudible at the end of paragraphs and when expressing the thoughts of characters, requiring the listener to continually adjust the volume. Dunne's straightforward reading follows the ups and downs of the budding romance, the sexual tensions, and the parent-child conflicts. As Grace's money starts to run out, requiring resolution to her problems, so the tension and conflicts grow.

This is not a story about guns, but about blue pearls. Gerald Browne takes us to the Pacific Ocean and the world of pearl divers and natural gems and mixes in mystery, intrigue and suspense. Barry Bostwick portrays the characters in one voice, varying his intonation slightly for the Asian personalities. His reading style is very smooth, evidence of preparation and interest in the story. 18mm Blues is abridged well, collecting the important elements of the story. Unobtrusive music indicates the end of each side. Disappear into the mystery of the Far East and one of its most beautiful commodities.
