The Sinclairs are headed back to the small screen.

Amazon Prime has renewed its adaptation of E. Lockhart’s We Were Liars for a second season, Variety reports.

Lockhart’s young adult novel, published by Delacorte in 2014, follows the Sinclair family, a wealthy clan fighting for survival after a personal tragedy. In a starred review, a critic for Kirkus praised the book as “riveting, brutal, and beautifully told.” Lockhart followed up the novel with another book, Family of Liars; a third installment in the series, We Fell Apart, is slated for publication in November.

The Amazon adaptation premiered in June. Its cast includes Emily Alyn Lind, Caitlin FitzGerald, Mamie Gummer, and Candice King. Kirkus’ David Rapp wrote that the series “initially seems like a straightforward tale of poor little rich teens, but near the end it reveals itself as a more ambitious work—if, ultimately, a somewhat unoriginal one.”

Julie Plec and Carina Adly Mackenzie, creators and showrunners of the series, told Variety, “We loved making this show with so many spectacular humans. The fan response was truly special. There are still plenty of secrets buried on Beechwood Island and we can’t wait to keep digging them up.”

And Lockhart said, “Mackenzie and Plec have big, big plans for Season Two, including everything readers of my books are dying to see onscreen—and a lot of surprises as well.”

Lockhart shared news of the show’s renewal in an Instagram post featuring a video of her dancing on a rooftop to Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September.” “Planning to drink all your tears next season,” she wrote.
