Paralympian Amy Purdy will share life lessons in a new motivational book, People magazine reports.

Amplify will publish the snowboarder and motivational speaker’s Bounce Forward: 21 Tools To Live a Life Beyond Limits in the spring. It describes the book as “intimately written and packed with practical advice backed by cutting-edge science,” calling it “the ultimate toolbox for building, or rebuilding, your best life.”

Purdy was 19 when she was hospitalized for respiratory and organ failure and diagnosed with meningococcal meningitis. She was placed in a medically induced coma, and doctors amputated both her legs below the knee because of septic shock.

Purdy built a pair of snowboarding feet so she could continue participating in the sport, going on to win three medals at the United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association’s National Snowboarding Championship. She later won a bronze medal at the 2014 Paralympic Games, followed by bronze and silver medals at the 2018 games. She appeared on the 18th season of Dancing With the Stars, coming in at second place with partner Derek Hough.

She is the author of a previous book, the 2014 memoir On My Own Two Feet: From Losing My Legs to Learning the Dance of Life, co-written with Michelle Burford.

Purdy told People, “After losing my legs below the knees at 19 and later facing another life-altering injury, I realized that resilience isn’t about staying strong, it’s about having tools to lean on when you’re not. I’m excited to finally share this book because people always ask me, ‘Amy, how do you stay strong? How do you keep moving forward?’ This book is my answer.”

Bounce Forward is slated for publication on April 14.
