Journalist Matt Dixon will tell the story of the feud that is shaking up the Republican party in a new book, NBC News reports.
Little, Brown will publish NBC reporter Dixon’s Swamp Monsters: Trump vs. DeSantis—the Greatest Show on Earth (or at Least in Florida) next year. The press describes the book as “the wild inside story of how Donald Trump made a star of Ron DeSantis and then set out to destroy him, showing how their struggle for supremacy has turned Florida into the crucible of the new GOP—and of America's future.”
The rivalry between former President Trump and Florida Gov. DeSantis has dominated headlines recently, as both campaign for the Republican nomination for president. DeSantis was seen as an ally of Trump when he served in the U.S. House for almost six years, and Trump endorsed DeSantis when he ran for governor in 2018.
But their relationship soured after DeSantis entered the presidential race. Trump has insulted DeSantis at every opportunity, calling him “Ron DeSanctimonious” and “Ron DeSaster.” Trump is currently leading DeSantis in polls by a wide margin.
Little, Brown says the book “pulls back the curtain on the titanic clash between a one-time kingmaker and a would-be king, showing how the battle between Trump and DeSantis has escalated, how it might end—and what it will mean for the country.”
Swamp Monsters is scheduled for publication on Jan. 9, 2024, six days before the first Republican nominating contest is held in Iowa.
