Comedians Dan Aykroyd and Chevy Chase will star in a film adaptation of R.L. Stine’s Zombie Town, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The Saturday Night Live alums will lead the cast of the movie, which is scheduled for a theatrical release in December, after which it will air on Hulu.

Stine’s horror novel for children, published in 2012 by Two Lions, follows two young friends trying to dodge zombies that have infested their town. It’s a standalone novel, not part of the author’s mega-popular Goosebumps series.

The film adaptation will also star Marlon Kazadi (Child’s Play), Madi Monroe (Attaway General), Henry Czerny (Mission: Impossible), Brenna Coates (Burden), and Kids in the Hall comedians Scott Thompson and Bruce McCulloch.

Directing the film will be Peter Lepeniotis (The Nut Job), who’s also one of five credited screenwriters on the movie.

Stine is no stranger to screen adaptations of his works. Last year, Netflix released three films based on his Fear Street series of books, and his Goosebumps series was the inspiration for a television series that aired on Fox Kids from 1995 to 1998, as well as two movies, released in 2015 and 2018, respectively.

The Goosebumps books, which debuted 30 years ago this summer, are also headed back to the small screen. Earlier this year, Disney+ announced that it’s developing a live-action television series based on the books.
