British readers couldn’t get enough of Richard Osman in 2025.

The Impossible Fortune, the fifth novel in the television presenter–turned–author’s popular Thursday Murder Club series, was the bestselling book in the U.K. this year, the Guardian reports.

Osman’s cozy mystery follows members of the club—retirees with a knack for solving crimes—as they investigate the disappearance of a man who had asked them for help. In a starred review, a critic for Kirkus wrote of the book, “You’ll be happy just to have spent some time in Osman’s delightful world.” Osman also took the No. 4 spot for his novel We Solve Murders, the first in a planned series.

Coming in at No. 2 was Freida McFadden’s The Housemaid; the author also claimed the No. 19 spot for its sequel, The Housemaid’s Secret. At No. 3 was Suzanne Collins’ latest Hunger Games novel, Sunrise on the Reaping. Rebecca Yarros took the No. 5 spot for Onyx Storm; she also made the list at No. 9 and No. 17 for Fourth Wing and Iron Flame, respectively.

Charlie Mackesy’s Always Remember was at No. 6, followed by Coco Wyo’s Cozy Corner at No. 7, Dan Brown’s The Secret of Secrets at No. 8, and Sarah J. Maas’ A Court of Thorns and Roses at No. 10.
