In her new memoir, actor Jamie Lynn Sigler says her ex-husband, AJ Discala, stole hundreds of thousands of dollars from her while the two were married, Page Six reports.

Sigler, best known for her role as Meadow Soprano on the hit HBO series The Sopranos, makes the claim in And So It Is…: A Memoir of Acceptance and Hope, published Tuesday by Harper. A critic for Kirkus called the book “an affecting and generous account of an often painful life.”

Sigler married Discala, who was at the time her manager, in 2003. She changed her last name to his; in the memoir, she recalls telling her fellow cast members about the change, writing “I expected some smiles. Maybe even some applause, a mazel tov or two. Instead, the room was completely silent. Crickets. Only Jim [Gandolfini] broke through the awkwardness with an audible ‘Ooof.’”

She writes that after she and Discala broke up in 2005, she asked a forensic accountant to review her finances. He found that hundreds of thousands of dollars she had earned from The Sopranos were missing.

“The forensic accountant broke down what he believed had been happening,” Sigler writes. “I would be paid a certain amount per episode for The Sopranos, and that would go into my corporation account. The next day, a portion of that money would be moved to our joint account for living expenses. But then a week or so later, a much smaller but still sizable amount of that money from our joint account would be moved to a different account that I didn’t have access to or know about.”

After she told Gandolfini about their breakup, he responded, “Good. I never fucking liked him.” In 2018, Discala was convicted of securities and wire fraud in an unrelated matter, and in 2021, he was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison. Sigler is now married to former baseball player Cutter Dykstra.
