Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear will write about faith and public life in a book coming later this year.

St. Martin’s will publish the Democratic politician’s Go and Do Likewise: How We Heal a Broken Country in the fall, the press announced in a news release. It calls the book “a compelling and insightful book that reclaims faith as a force for good in public life and rebukes those who use it to harm and discriminate.”

Beshear, the son of former Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear, worked as a lawyer before being elected the attorney general of Kentucky in 2015. He was elected governor of the state in 2019, defeating the incumbent, Republican Matt Bevin, and was reelected in 2023.

Because of his status as a popular Democratic governor in a deeply Republican state, Beshear is frequently mentioned as a possible presidential candidate in 2028. He joins other Democrats thought to be mulling runs who have recently published or are set to publish books, including New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker (Stand), former Vice President Kamala Harris (107 Days), Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy (Crisis of the Common Good), California Gov. Gavin Newsom (Young Man in a Hurry), and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (Where We Keep the Light).

Beshear’s book, St. Martin’s says, “transcends politics to remind Americans of the values grounded in service and acceptance. It is a book for everyone who believes in justice and doing right by their neighbor whether or not they support organized religion at all.”

Go and Do Likewise is scheduled for publication on Sept. 22.
