TEACH YOUR CHILDREN WELL

PARENTING FOR AUTHENTIC SUCCESS

Cassandra Campbell's near-flawless phrasing and diction deliver this important book with the seriousness it deserves. She has a firm grip on the author's message--that goals for our children should be broader than traditional benchmarks like academic achievement. Sometimes, Campbell's gravitas sounds a bit at odds with Madeline Levine's personable writing, but it works well nevertheless to advance the author's well-documented mission, which is to encourage parents to put more thought and energy into developing children's character traits such as resilience, purpose, independence of mind, and a healthy ability to connect with others. Campbell's firm clarity is an undeniably appealing way to present the author's scholarship and advice. It works less well in expressing Levine's personal investment in this touching humanitarian lesson.
