by Nora Roberts ; Read by January LaVoy ‧ RELEASE DATE: May 25, 2021
Narrator January LaVoy's smooth stylings carry listeners from Adrian Rizzo's traumatic childhood to adulthood and her career as a yoga and fitness trainer with a line of popular videos. She's positioned to be just as successful as her mother was--but who is sending her periodic death threats? LaVoy ages Adrian appropriately; her voice moves from button-cute to an enthusiastic teen's voice and finally to Adrian's well-modulated adult timbre. For Adrian's mother, LaVoy chooses a flatter tone that suits her driven personality. For several menacing characters, LaVoy delivers harder-edged portrayals. LaVoy shares the tragic backstory of Adrian's love interest, Raylan, with deft emotional control and ensures that Adrian and Raylan's lovesick dogs keep the listening experience balanced between grief and new beginnings.

To Fred Fairly, a Cambridge Fellow, truth is everything. What then is the truth about the woman he finds beside him when he awakens? English conventions and mores of 1912 Cambridge are central to this period piece. Callow's wonderful voice and interpretation make accents, personalities and gender come alive, and help make sense of the frequent time and character shifts.
