by Suzanne Park ; read by Catherine Ho ‧ RELEASE DATE: April 16, 2024
Catherine Ho infuses this tech-infused comedy with a vibrant expressiveness that will have listeners laughing throughout. She captures the emotional roller-coaster ride of rising tech star Sara Chae as she deals with the ultimate digital mishap. Sara's startup company offers a remarkable service--the ability to have posthumous messages delivered to the living after a customer's death. One drunken night, Sara writes her own messages, completely uncensored, to family and friends. To her horror, a technical glitch leaks them to family and friends--despite her being very much not dead. Ho offers lively interpretations of Sara's interactions with her emotional mother, her former best friend, and her high school crush. Listeners are treated to smooth transitions between the humor and the heartfelt moments.

In this sequel to Terms of Endearment, Larry McMurtry brings back Aurora Greenway, who is now dealing with her various lovers and friends plus three grown grandchildren with a variety of problems. He presents a tale of growing up and growing old which is bittersweet and funny. Narrator Ivey uses a slight east Texas accent which authenticates the setting of the story. Each character's voice has a slightly different inflection to differentiate it. It all works together well. To Fred Fairly, a Cambridge Fellow, truth is everything. What then is the truth about the woman he finds beside him when he awakens? English conventions and mores of 1912 Cambridge are central to this period piece. Callow's wonderful voice and interpretation make accents, personalities and gender come alive, and help make sense of the frequent time and character shifts. His delivery enhances a most clever "choose your own ending."
