by Uzma Jalaluddin & Marissa Stapley ; read by Ulka Simone Mohanty ‧ RELEASE DATE: Sept. 26, 2023
Ulka Simone Mohanty narrates a joyous multicultural celebration of Christmas, Hanukkah, and Ramadan as two women, Maryam Aziz and Anna Gibson, are stranded in scenic Snow Falls, Canada, during a snowstorm. Mohanty projects a festive sense of humor as multiple disasters threaten the travelers. While Maryam deals with her sister's wedding postponements and Anna examines her life choices, Mohanty supports their emotional journeys with a comforting intimacy. Indian, American, and Canadian accents pepper the narration, giving listeners the feeling that Snow Falls welcomes everyone. Maryam's love interest, Saif, and Anna's new friend, Josh, both sound distinct in conversation. Clear delineation of citizens' and stranded travelers' voices make for a lively, fun listen. Mohanty fosters an atmosphere of wonder as travel delays turn into the best holiday ever.

In this sequel to Terms of Endearment, Larry McMurtry brings back Aurora Greenway, who is now dealing with her various lovers and friends plus three grown grandchildren with a variety of problems. He presents a tale of growing up and growing old which is bittersweet and funny. Narrator Ivey uses a slight east Texas accent which authenticates the setting of the story. Each character's voice has a slightly different inflection to differentiate it. It all works together well. To Fred Fairly, a Cambridge Fellow, truth is everything. What then is the truth about the woman he finds beside him when he awakens? English conventions and mores of 1912 Cambridge are central to this period piece. Callow's wonderful voice and interpretation make accents, personalities and gender come alive, and help make sense of the frequent time and character shifts. His delivery enhances a most clever "choose your own ending."
