WET MAGIC by E. Nesbit

WET MAGIC

KIRKUS REVIEW

I'm always a bit startled when I happen upon an unfamilar E. Nesbit. This one is new territory to me -- I am sure I never read it as a child. It has her infallible touch in the combination of realism and fantasy -- of real children and fairy folk. But somehow, the reality becomes a bit clouded -- the dialogue is less sure -- the fairy tale pattern more usual. Not up to her best.
