THE YEAR'S BEST FANTASY AND HORROR by Ellen Datlow

THE YEAR'S BEST FANTASY AND HORROR

KIRKUS REVIEW

The seventh annual collection of dreams and nightmares from editors Datlow and Windling. Not just an anthology of stories, this book is like an annual report on the state of the fantasy and horror genres and markets. The editors include comprehensive lists of fantasy and horror titles published during the year. There's also an essay by Edward Bryant about horror and fantasy on television and in the movies. As for the stories: Ursula K. Le Guin hits lead-off, and other expected authors include Harlan Ellison, Elizabeth Hand, and Carol Emshwiller. Genre auslanders who've been invited into the fold include Thomas Disch, Gabriel Garc°a M†rquez and Sherman Alexie.
