KIRKUS REVIEW

Like Stobbs last year, Galdone trims Puss's tale for younger listeners and sacrifices also the dash and splendor of Marcia Brown's illustrations. However, if Galdone's obvious, unsophisticated style is not what you'd associate with Perrault, he has it all over Stobbs for movement, expression and light-hearted humor. And if Brown made the peasant and his cat convincing courtiers, there is something to be said for Galdone's depiction of the king and his entourage as beefy louts in finery. A Puss for the people.
