KIRKUS REVIEW

In one of those city houses where every floor has a family of a different origin the basement is occupied by building superintendent Murdock, one of those old salts who're never washed up in juveniles. He keeps fending off the kids--frustrating their efforts to play raft with an old door and denying (rightly) that he has defused their rain-charming devices--until a waterpipe bursts and the spirit of the sea carries them all away. Fey-tally.
