A NEW LEASE OF DEATH by Ruth Rendell

A NEW LEASE OF DEATH

KIRKUS REVIEW

The respectable Rev. Archery starts poking about in musty police files after his son selects the daughter of an ax murderer as a fiancee. The Reverend is worried, you know, heredity and that sort of thing. Could there possibly have been a mistake? Well there was, but it's not exactly the thing the Reverend opted for. A five-year-old witness, an insane neighbor and a poetic epitaph on a forgotten tombstone offer clues. But it's far-fetched even for the ladies who will probably be somewhat shocked by the Reverend's mid-stream affair.
