Barnes & Noble has released its lists of the best books of the year to date.
The bookseller’s overall list features literary fiction titles including Caro Claire Burke’s Yesteryear, Tayari Jones’ Kin, George Saunders’ Vigil, Douglas Stuart’s John of John, and Ann Patchett’s Whistler. Nonfiction books making the list include Belle Burden’s Strangers: A Memoir of Marriage; Isabel Klee’s Dogs, Boys, and Other Things I’ve Cried About; Patrick Radden Keefe’s London Falling: A Mysterious Death in a Gilded City and a Family’s Search for Truth; and H.W. Brands’ American Patriarch: The Life of George Washington.
Barnes & Noble’s list of the best YA books of the year so far includes K.L. Walther’s We're a Bad Idea, Right?; Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé’s The Heirs; Cindy Pham’s The Secret World of Briar Rose; Mari Costa’s Forgive-Me-Not; and Don Martin’s Verity Vox and the Curse of Foxfire.
The best audiobooks of the year so far list includes Transcription, written by Ben Lerner and narrated by Seth Numrich; The Murder at World’s End, written by Ross Montgomery and narrated by Derek Jacobi and Joe Jameson; The Red Winter, written by Cameron Sullivan and narrated by Imogen Church and Rory Barnett; and Billy on Billy, written and narrated by Billy Eichner.
