If you’re doing your part to fight the spread of COVID-19 by staying at home as much as possible, you’ve likely learned by now that you have to make your own fun. Having trouble coming up with ways to do that? Novelist Curtis Sittenfeld’s kids have a suggestion for you.

Earlier this week, the Prepand American Wife author posted a picture on Twitter that showed her enjoying what appears to be a cup of tea and wearing a rather fancy garment.

“Social distancing Day 12: Today my kids wanted me to wear my wedding dress at lunch I couldn’t think of a reason not to,” she wrote.

The tweet quickly took off, garnering over 240,000 likes as of Friday morning. It also served as inspiration for some other stay-at-home workers.

“My wife saw your tweet and was inspired,” responded NPR’s Peter Sagal with a picture of his spouse wearing her wedding finery.

“I wore my 25 year old prom dress for a staff meeting yesterday,” another user tweeted.

Sittenfeld told the Today show that she was glad to do her part to make stressed-out people on Twitter smile.

“Like many parents, I've been trying to convey to my children the seriousness of what's going on, and how important social distancing is, while also trying to still have moments of fun,” she said.

Sittenfeld’s next novel, Rodham, is currently scheduled for publication by Random House on June 30.
