Alanna Bennett’s The Education of Kia Greer is headed to the small screen, Deadline reports.

Bennett’s young adult novel, published last May by Knopf, follows the titular character, a high school girl whose family is the subject of a popular reality television series. She falls for teen idol Cassius Campbell, and their relationship becomes the subject of social media rumors and gossip. A critic for Kirkus called the book “a lovely coming-of-age story that explores family, fame, and self with a sweet and spicy romance as the cherry on top.”

Fox Entertainment Studios is developing the adaptation with Bennett, who has worked as a writer on the series Roswell, New Mexico and XO, Kitty. Producers of the series include actor Gabrielle Union (She’s All That, Cradle 2 the Grave) and her husband, former basketball star Dwyane Wade.

Bennett shared news of the adaptation on Instagram, writing, “I am so thrilled with this team we’ve set up, and I’m especially over the moon because I know Gabrielle and Dwayne can infuse this series with an invaluable authenticity we’d be hard-pressed to find from anyone else. I have hope, just like Kia does when she speeds through Pennsylvania, singing Whitney Houston’s ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’ at the top of her lungs. Let’s dance.”
