Move over, Tom Hanks: There’s a new Robert Langdon in town.
Morgan Spector will play Langdon in Netflix’s upcoming series adaptation of Dan Brown’s The Secret of Secrets, Deadline reports.
Brown introduced Langdon, a Harvard professor who often finds himself embroiled in a series of intricate conspiracies, in the 2000 thriller Angels & Demons. He brought Langdon back in 2003 in The Da Vinci Code, which became a massive bestseller, as did all subsequent installments in the series: The Lost Symbol, Inferno, Origin, and The Secret of Secrets, published last year by Doubleday.
Hanks played Langdon in the film adaptations of The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, and Inferno, all directed by Ron Howard. A Peacock series based on The Lost Symbol, starring Ashley Zukerman as Langdon, aired for one season in 2021.
Spector, known for his roles in the television series Homeland and The Gilded Age, will be joined in the Secret of Secrets cast by Rebecca Hall (Christine, Passing), set to play the character of Katherine Solomon. The showrunner for the series is Carlton Cuse (Lost, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), who will executive-produce alongside Brown.
Brown shared news of Spector’s casting on Instagram, writing, “Excited to share the news that Morgan Spector is our new Robert Langdon! I’ve been a fan of Morgan’s work for many years and I’m excited to see him bring this book to life.”
