Political commentator Tucker Carlson is launching a book imprint with Skyhorse Publishing, the Wall Street Journal reports.
Skyhorse, the independent press known for publishing books by controversial authors including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Melania Trump, and Alan Dershowitz, will be the home of Tucker Carlson Books, which Skyhorse publisher Tony Lyons says will focus on “giving a platform to things that would, in many cases, be shut down, be censored, and be covered over by propaganda.”
Carlson, the former Fox News contributor who now hosts a podcast called the Tucker Carlson Show, is known for his contrarian, ultraconservative politics. He has promoted the racist “great replacement” conspiracy theory and used his platform to interview guests including Holocaust denier Darryl Cooper and white nationalist Nick Fuentes. In recent days, he’s garnered attention for his criticism of President Trump and the Iran war.
His imprint, the Journal reports, will launch with three books. It will publish How To Become a Christian in Seven Days, written by Russell Brand, the comedian and actor who has been charged with rape and sexual assault in the U.K., as well as Ex Gay by Milo Yiannopoulos, the far-right media figure who used to identify as gay but now advocates for so-called “conversion therapy.” The imprint will also publish Killing Cancer by Los Angeles Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong.
“I think most people don’t read books anymore because they’re too absorbed in all the other available media,” Carlson told the Journal. “But some people do, and those who do find it really rewarding, and those who do, I think tend to be disproportionately influential in policy conversations and conversations about ideas.”
