KIRKUS REVIEW

The imagination runs wild in this second adorable book from Zarin and Durham (Rose and Sebastian, 1997), who celebrate creative minds and individuality. Readers learn about point of view when different characters answer the question posed in the title: “Dido saw a skinny hen, Henry saw a snail,/Peter saw a green rabbit, Lulu saw a nightingale.” Other questions follow, such as “What do you hear when you listen hard?” and “What do you yell when you yell really loud?” The unique answers encourage readers to make up their own responses. Durham’s appealing, childlike illustrations, bold colors, friendly characters, and clever use of the page add just the right touch to a delightful verse that is not only fun to read aloud to groups of children, but a fitting bedtime story, as well.
