KIRKUS REVIEW

Philip Marlowe, California private eye, in another bruiser of a tale when he is hired to find a missing wife, turns up a corpse in a lake, and comes up against a doctor who medicates with narcotics, a tomcat, and ladies with miscellaneous entanglements. Two additional murders and mayhem for Marlow at the hands of the local police keep it going fast and rough. Good.
