Good news for Good Omens fans: the fantasy series based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 novel is coming back for a second season, Deadline reports.

Amazon has renewed the show, which debuted in 2019, and plans to broadcast another six-episode season. There’s no scheduled release date yet, but filming is expected to begin later this year.

The first season of Good Omens, which starred Michael Sheen, David Tennant, and Daniel Mays, was met with mostly positive reviews. The series, like the novel, follows the unlikely friendship of an angel and a demon who work together to prevent the coming of Armageddon.

Gaiman wrote the first season of the show; he’ll co-write the second season with John Finnemore, who will also serve as an executive producer.

“There are so many questions people have asked about what happened next, and also, what happened before, to our favorite Angel and Demon,” Gaiman said. “Here are the answers you’ve been hoping for. We are back in Soho, and all through time and space, solving a mystery, which starts with an angel wandering through Soho, with no memory.”

Sheen reacted to news of the second season with some British dry humor.

“Personally I’m against it, but the world isn’t going to just save itself, is it?” the actor said. “If David [Tennant] and I can manage to not fall out too badly this time, it may even have a chance of getting finished.”
