A new organization hopes to mobilize writers to deliver a victory to Joe Biden in the November presidential election, Literary Hub reports.

Writers Against Trump was founded by a group of authors including Paul Auster, Siri Hustvedt, Sophie Auster, James Carroll, and seven others. The group seeks to “oppose the racist, destructive, incompetent, corrupt, and fascist regime of Donald Trump, and to give our language, thought, and time to his defeat in November,” according to its website.

“Writers Against Trump collaborates with organizations seeking to encourage voter turnout, promote candidates who resist the Trump apparatus, protect the election from fraud and theft, and mobilize in the event of post-election trouble,” the group says.

Members of the organization have contributed statements that are on display on the group’s Instagram page. In one, Auster says, “The re-election of Trump and the Republican Party could mean the end of democracy in America and the beginning of authoritarian rule in a country in which no one will ever be able to vote again.”

In another, writer Jesse Alexander says, “The Biden/Harris ticket is less than optimal but to allow the current fascist regime to remain in power would mean the continued normalization of death and the assault on truth.”

Other members of the group include Carolyn Forché, Alex Marzano-Lesnevich, Pam Houston, Benjamin Alire Saenz, Rick Perlstein, and Marcy Dermansky.
