Kids will soon have a new way to say “G’day” to one of the most popular fictional television families.
BBC Studios and Penguin Random House will release Bluey: The Beach and Other Stories, an audiobook featuring stories about the beloved blue heeler and hero of the popular Australian animated children’s show of the same name, Deadline reports.
Bluey, which follows the title canine and his family and friends, premiered in 2018 and has broadcast more than 150 episodes; it is a favorite of families in its native Australia as well as in the United States. More than 40 children’s books inspired by the series have been published from 2019 to the present.
Miranda Tapsell, who voices the mother of the character Dougie on the show and is also known for her work on the series Love Child and Wolf Creek, will narrate the collection, which contains eight stories.
Jan Paterson, BBC Studio’s director of books and audio publishing, told Deadline, “With Bluey continuing to be one of the top performing children’s publishing brands, it’s exciting to see that audience appetite extend into audiobooks. The strength of engagement we’re seeing from families makes this a natural next step, giving listeners a new way to connect…with stories and characters that they already know and love.”
Bluey: The Beach and Other Stories is slated for release on Sept. 1.
