Rebecca Romijn said she was “blindsided” by the recent memoir from her ex-husband, fellow actor John Stamos.

Romijn responded to a question about the book from Entertainment Tonight host Deidre Behar at Sunday’s Critics Choice Awards.

“I was very surprised by all of that, incredibly shocked, actually,” she said. “I was sort of blindsided by it. But you know, I don't really want to help him sell his books based on those headlines. So that's all I really want to say about it.”

Stamos’ memoir, If You Would Have Told Me, was published last October by Henry Holt. In the book, Stamos recounts his life and career as an actor and musician, known for his roles in series including General Hospital, Full House, and ER. A critic for Kirkus called the book “a heartfelt, sincere memoir filled with useful wisdom.”

Romjin and Stamos were married from 1998 to 2005. Stamos writes in the book about the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds star, “She makes it clear that I’m the TV guy and she’s the newly minted star.…Somewhere deep inside, I start to believe it.” He also seems to suggest that Romijn cheated on him, writing, “Betrayal starts as a sinking feeling in your stomach, grows into a suspicion that clouds your every thought, and by the time you find out the truth, it’s uniquely horrible at first but also expected, like you’ve been waiting for something bad to happen.”
